THE MAY’S LITTLE FARM
Owner of Paddock to Potager & Founder of Toowoomba Farmers’ Market
Hello! And welcome to our little family farm. I am the owner of our farm Paddock to Potager, where I raise my young family with my husband Stu in Pechey, up in the high country just past Hampton.
Each day is a balancing act, trying to juggle the commitments motherhood bring with the day-to-day running of the farm, but I adore this country lifestyle and wouldn’t have it any other way. Before moving to the farm, I worked in the agriculture, Early Education and Child Protection industries – working with many children, families and lifestyles. But what I’ve realised is that we all eat food. We all enjoy food. Food is what makes us gather, celebrate and live. Beautiful. I love making, baking, photo taking and arranging food. Most of all, I love the taste of fresh simple ingredients and the pleasure it gives to many.
With the aim to increase your knowledge of where your food comes from when you visit the farm or buy pork from us, I am passionate about the paddock to plate concept, nose to tail eating and teaching others sustainable farming methods and cooking skills.
Founder of the Toowoomba Farmers Market, I’ve extended my passion for preserving local food sources whereby, I now join with others to promote healthier communities, seasonal and local food choices by offering seasonal baskets filled with local and sustainable produce and products. I’m proud to say I created the only genuine Farmers Market in Toowoomba, a platform that allowed me to advocate for all farmers’, growers, producers and artisans whilst promoting education, mindfulness and awareness. Although the market does not run anymore, I am thrilled the concept still lives on with me, and here at my farm.
